10 Ways to Pass The Time on A Bus Charter

Secrets To Passing The Time And Having Fun On A Bus Charter

Booking an Edmonton bus charter is a great way to get where you want to go safe and sound. It offers you all the benefits of traveling without the’ hassle and dangers of being on the road yourself.

But long bus rides can be annoying; we’ve all been there, and know that learning how to pass the time can be a life saver. Here at Alberta North Transport, we want to share our secrets with you on how we like to pass the time as passengers when our destination is a long ways away.

While not all of these might be right for you – at least a few will make your long trip easier, and even fun! Let’s take a look.

1 Sleep. This one may seem obvious, but it’s best to get it out there first. When you rent a bus, you can zonk out and get your rest. This will leave you with a ton of energy when you get to where you are going, so you’ll be ready to have fun. Just lean back in a comfortable chair, close your eyes, and wake up at your destination.

2 Have a few drinks! When you are driving, you obviously can’t drink. Otherwise, you’d become subject to Edmonton’s drunk driving laws.’ But if you’re a mostly adult group going on a long trip we are willing to sign a letter authorizing you to apply for a liquor permit at a local liquor store. If you get a liquor permit you can drink on the bus, keeping in mind that you will have to stop drinking 30 minutes before arriving at your destination and you can only drink inside Alberta. That being said you are welcome to open up a couple beers and sip them while watching the sites go by. Or fill a thermos with a hot toddy and relax.

3 Read a book! In today’s busy environment, it can be hard to find time to delve into a good book. But a long ride on an Edmonton bus rental is the perfect place to get caught up on your reading. If you don’t like fiction, you could pick a book about the place you are going to – so you’ll be in the know when you arrive at your destination.

4′ Chat with your friends. You won’t be driving, and a bunch of you will be together, so why not use this as your time to catch up, find out what’s been going on with their lives and even learn from each other? If you’ve recently been stressed out, talking to people‘ has a wide range of health benefits. So you are doing yourself a favour!

5′ Watch a video. Many of our buses are equipped with flat-screen TVs and DVD players. Simply bring your favorite DVDs, sit back and enjoy a movie on the way to your destination.

6′ Listen to music. Load up your iPod or phone with a special playlist for your trip and rock out. You can gaze out your window and listen to you favorite tunes as you make your way to where you want to go. This can relax you, or get you pumped up. It’s up to you – but know you can always keep on rocking in the free world!

7′ Set landmarks and look for them. A long trip can seem short if you break it down into realistic goals. On a map, find 5 to 10 interesting things to see on the trip, and then look for them! With each one, you’ll be closer to your destination and the time will fly by. You can even create a competition with other members of your trip to see who finds them first! The person to find the most wins the match – and you’ll be where you want to go before you know it.

8′ Bring a feast with you! Who wants to waste time eating when they’re finally at their destination? You want to see the attraction – not the inside of a restaurant. So get your friends together before your trip go in on some delicious treats. You can set up your spread and chow down – and then take a huge nap afterwards. You’ll arrive where you want to go fed and well rested, ready to see what you want to see and do what you want to do!

9′ Play license plate bingo. Everyone gets a card and looks for license plates. When they find one, they block out that section on their card. The first person to have a full line of blocked out numbers wins the match. And then you can play it again! You’ll have a great time and the miles will fly by!

10′ Exchange YouTube videos with your friends! Who doesn’t have a small addiction to YouTube? Sharing videos on the boss’s time or expensive data connections can get you in trouble. On a road trip – no problem! See who can find the craziest video to share. Laughing babies? Bad infomercials? Pet tricks? The world is your oyster when you’re connected and can surf YouTube all you want!

I like how you mentioned that there are several ways to keep entertained while on a chartered bus trip–and while most would suggest for you to sleep instead, some options available would include reading a book and listening to music in order to keep oneself occupied. When it comes to eating, it’s usually better to bring your own food and once you arrive at your destination, then you can not only eat your second meal of the day and enjoy the view, the long drive out is definitely worth it! When it comes to long chartered bus trips, I know I can’t sit still–so I’m more used to watching videos while waiting for the rest of the people going on this future journey with me are taking a break fee.
